Running for Cancer Research

What's the idea?

Our mission is to try and raise one million US dollars for cancer research.  We recognize donors on our 10,000 square inch flag.  Every $100 donated for cancer, will be recognized as one square of space on the flag, as well as a 100-pixel square image the digital flag on www.onemilliondollarflag.org. On the webpage, the donor or sponsor will have the choice of linking his pixels to a website of his choice or creating a personal page designated to how their loved ones lives and their own are affected by cancer. Donors and sponsors can manage their personal pages and pixels online.

The Idea

For every $100 donated for cancer, the donor will be recognized with one square inch of the flag, plus a 100-pixel square of the image of the flag on www.onemilliondollarflag.org. For the webpage, the donor or sponsor will have the choice of linking his pixels to a website of his choice or creating a personal page designated to their loved ones who’s live are affected by cancer. Donors and Sponsors can manage their personal pages and pixels online.

The Pledge

Our pledge is we will physically show the flag to over two million people by carrying the flag around and show over 20 million people online by attracting online visitors. We will carry the flag around with our best efforts, and participate in events such as the Boston Marathon. Yes, we will run the Boston Marathon with the Flag! There will be over 1 million spectators at Boston Marathon alone! The viewing number is a conservative estimate, but our goal is really to show the flag to as many people as we possibly can!

The fastest way and the best way to get your image on the flag and the website is to send me an email: right after donating. Tell me the name you used for your donation and the amount of donation.  I will send you an email invitation to join the site. You can then upload your image right away.

We got a lot of snow in Boston today. I biked to work this morning in the snow and rain. After coming back from work, Aaron and I worked on the website, the logo, and the letterhead for one hour. When I finally got a chance to run, it was 10:30pm already. Didn't go very far. :-(.
